Rainforest Introduction Game!

Objective:

• Given the Rainforest Introduction Game PowerPoint, students will assess their prior knowledge of rainforest terminology by matching words to their definitions. 

Description:

• This is a great way for you to assess your student's prior knowledge about the subject of the rainforest, as well as to introduce some terminology that will be used in the unit. Not to mention it is entertaining, animated, and interactive! 
• Teachers will download the PowerPoint presentation in either format:
• Microsoft PowerPoint Version 2004 and higher:Rainforest Intro Game.pptx
• Microsoft PowerPoint Version 97-2004: Rainforest Intro Game.ppt
• Play the PowerPoint in the SlideShow format.
• You will be introduced with a game show theme song!
• Pick a number from the list of six numbers on the next slide (slide 2)
• Each slide will bring you to a definition of a word with 3 choices to choose from. Have student's pick the correct word to the definition listed. If they are correct, the link will bring them to a "CORRECT" slide. If they are incorrect, the link will bring them to a "TRY AGAIN" slide. 
• Continue this through all 6 definitions
• Along the slides will be various plants and animals that are present in the Rainforest. Feel free to point them out to students

Conclusion:

• Explain to children that these words are going to become common and familiar to them as the Unit Plan goes on.
